Q. Don’t focus group facilities rescreen respondents in their lobby prior to the groups?
A. Yes, but that’s not the time to learn that you have respondents who don’t qualify.
Q. Do you offer respondent auditing for methodologies other than focus groups?
A. Yes.
Q. Do you add our respondents to your database?
A. No. Nothing would damage our reputation faster. We encourage you to add "plants" to your respondent roster. That way you can audit the professionalism and thoroughness of our services. And you’ll never have to wonder if we use your respondents for purposes other than your original intent.
Q. What makes you qualified to rescreen respondents?
A. Our credentials speak for themselves. Of course, references are available upon request.
Q. What if you say a respondent isn’t qualified?
A. That’s up to you. We simply inform you that there’s a discrepancy between what the respondent told the recruiter and what the respondent told us.
Q. What if a respondent cancels because of your call?
A. There’s no reason for a respondent who is told to expect a verification call to cancel unless they were planning to cancel anyway, or were marginally interested to begin with. You pay for respondent recruiting whether respondents show up or not. So weeding these respondents out sooner than later benefits you and your research.
Q. Why should focus facilities and recruiters allow you to rescreen their respondents?
A. Two reasons. First, we work with recruiters, not against them. We want to help researchers get what they’re expecting, and paying for. We want to help recruiters better understand the nuances of respondent recruiting so they, too, can help their clients have better fieldwork experiences. Second, because we assume 100% liability and responsibility for respondent accuracy for screening questions that we authenticate.
Q. How many times do you try to reach each respondent?
A. We recommend making three attempts to reach respondents. We don’t badger respondents. We don’t leave messages.
Q. What happens if you’re unable to verify a respondent after three attempts?
A. Respondents who are eager to attend your research know that our call is part of the process. For respondents we can’t get in touch with, we let you decide what’s next.
Q. How do you guard against professional respondents?
A. Some professional respondents give themselves away before attending your research. Unfortunately, others don’t. Although we are not always able to spot cheaters prior to your research, we can help you identify respondents who are too wise to the research process, or respondents who are being untruthful.
Q. Doesn’t a call from your company cause confusion with respondents?
A. We don’t use our company name when we validate respondents. To avoid respondent concern or confusion about receiving calls from another firm, we make the verification calls on behalf of the recruiting service.
Q. Can I monitor the validation calls?
A. No. But we record the telephone conversations with respondents’ permission. We make the audio files available to you.
Q. Who confirms the respondents?
A. Confirmation activities are the recruiter’s territory. When we validate respondents, we don’t discuss the specifics of their participation. We respect recruiter/respondent relationships. Our expertise is ensuring that respondents are qualified to take part in your research.
